Beginner's Guide to Choosing the Right Skincare Routine

For beginners, creating the right skincare regime can prove to be overwhelming. Many are confused about what to include in their skincare routine, that will provide desired results and do not know where to begin. With an overwhelming number of options to choose from, it can be really confusing for newbies.

Here, we will share tips on how beginners can select the right skin care routine that will be appropriate for them.

Beginner's Guide to Selecting the Right Skincare Regime

We all have different skin types, skincare goals, issues, and concerns, but there are specific rules which work equally well for everyone irrespective of type of skin they have, called basic skin routine.

The aim should be to keep things simple, begin with a basic routine, and gradually expand as required. Your basic skin care regime should consist of three vital steps, which are:

  • Cleanse

  • Moisturize

  • Protect

Cleanse

Cleansing should be done twice everyday, in morning and before going to bed. If you apply more sunscreen or wear more makeup, then double cleansing will help in thorough cleaning.

In double cleansing you will have to first use an oil-based cleanser for removing the makeup and then follow it up with water based cleanser for removing any excess. The cleanser should be selected according to skin type you have and you must keep note of the following points.

  • For oily skin, gentle foaming cleansers and gels do the job and assist in balancing natural oils present in skin.

  • For sensitive or dry skin, the right thing to do will be to select a creamier cleanser.

Moisturize

Moisturizing should be part of your daily routine. When your properly moisturize, it helps to keep the skin hydrated as well as make sure that skin's outer layer functions as ree outer layer remains hydrated, then other layers remain protected from issues such as inflammation and irritation.

Properly moisturized skin prevents problems such as acne, breakouts, and irritation. In case of dry skin, you should buy a moisturizer that contains ingredients like hyaluronic acid, a humectant that soaks up as well as retains water.

On the other hand, if you have acne prone or oily skin then oil free lighter moisturizer or gel moisturizer will be right for you.

Protection

The last step involves protecting your skin from the harmful effects of UV rays using a broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF30 or more. Sunscreen will be protecting from issues like sunburns and other problems like wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, dark spots, irritation, and dryness.

It is essential to apply the sunscreen every day and not just on sunny days as UV rays remain potent even on cold winter days.

As we can see, starting a daily skincare routine will not seem like a herculean task when you know all the details. For beginners, the right thing to do will be to consult an experienced skin therapist and follow the advice provided by the therapist based on type of skin you have.
